The wedding veil story

The modern shops and the fashionable magazines of the wedding dresses propose us not only the wedding dresses but also numerous accessories to it such as gloves, jewellery and of course the wedding veil.
The history of the wedding veil is connected with the wedding ceremonies of the Ancient Romans. The bride, pure as an angel, was considered to be vulnerable to all kinds of evil actions and curses. The Romans believed that the evil spirits are able to bring them troubles because of the envy to them. That is why they tried to hide the bride from all kinds of evil forces hiding her face behind the wedding veil.
The crusades brought this tradition to Europe that spread all over it. In the early Jewish ceremonies the bride was given to the broom covered with the white clothing from head to feet and it wasn't taken off till the end of the ceremony. In 11-12 centuries Jewish, Greek and Roman women decorated their beautiful heads with the veils of different colours and decorated with the golden and silver embroideries.
The modern wedding veil changed a lot with the years. The synthetic material was used for the wedding veil only after the World War II. It changed into the great and rich element of the bride costume.
It is hard to find the bride without the wedding veil in the modern world as all women dream to put it on one day that should be the best day of their lives.
