The skirt story

The skirt is one of the elements of clothing that had the most extraordinary numerous forms and length changing with the each epoch. The unusual cuts made the skirts long, short, wide, close-fitting, etc.

By the end of 19th century the women clothes was made simpler. The every-day costume of the woman was accentuated on the chemise or the blouse. The skirt becomes the separate belt clothing.

Nowadays it is hard to imagine the girl without the skirt. Even besides the fact that skirts were substituted by jeans and women started to wear them more than skirts, nevertheless they are still popular and especially liked by men as skirts show all the benefits of beautiful female legs.

In medieval times the skirt was the element of clothes that was covering the body from the throat to the knees usually used with the belt. It was worn by both men and women. The woman gothic skirt was divided into the top and the skirt as we know it today only in the 15th century.

In 15th century the wide skirts of several levels were especially popular. But they were so heavy that it was hard to walk in them. And then designers made up the structure with the hoops.

Before putting on, the skirt was constructed on the flour and women simply entered it and then it was fixed with the corset. In Italy and France skirts became easier and special pillows were fixed to them. These skirts were very precious and expensive as they were decorated with precious stones.
