The lipstick story

It is commonly known that in ancient times people started to paint their body already using different natural paints. With time people started to paint not the whole body but the separate parts of it accentuating eyes and lips.
In fact lipstick was invented in Ancient Egypt. But following the Egyptians views on the beauty women tried to make the lips not big but thin. In such way lips must look like one line. With the lapse of time the Ancient Greeks borrowed the idea of lips painting and started to use the lipstick too.
The Roman women borrowed the tradition to paint their lips from barbarians. And Rome introduced this tradition to all conquered countries.
The tradition of Ancient Germany connected with painting lips is even more interesting as it is connected with the tradition of hunting. In ancient times when the men didn't bring any bag, their women cut their hands and painted their lips with their blood and gave their lips to the dogs that were licking the blood from their lips. It is connected with the worship of dogs. Later the blood was substituted by the berries and then by the paint made of minerals, until the origins of this tradition were fully forgotten.
As a result lipstick conquered the hearts of women and some hearts of men and is still popular. Till the beginning of 20th century the lipstick was released in the bottles and only in 1915 the first lipsticks with the modern view appeared. It can be said for sure that lipstick is the most popular decorative cosmetics for women.
