The hairpin story

If you ask someone who uses the hairpins more often you'll hear the answer "women". And these people will be completely right. But in general hairpins are considered to be the elements of unisex style. Nevertheless there are special hairpins for men and women.

It is hard to tell who invented the hairpin the first. But one thing is known for sure that it was invented long time ago. In Ancient Egypt hairpins were obligatory accessories. The hairdos of the pharaohs and their servants were especially beautiful and precious.

In Ancient Greece women decorated their hairdos with the live flowers and bright fillets. And during celebrations and holidays they put on the diadems made of the precious metals and decorated with precious stones.

In Japan many men used the hairpins considering them not only the necessary holder of the hair but also great weapon.

In Ancient Russia the traditional national hairdo was considered to be the tress. Braiding her hair every girl decorated it with silk fillets that were also the ancestors of the modern hairpin.

In Europe women used the hairpins that were huge and hard by their form as they had to hold the huge and high hairdos.

The modern fashion allows using any historical kind of the hairpin as the decoration of hair has become the necessary element of the style nowadays.
