The gloves story

It is difficult to call gloves only the female clothes. Nevertheless gloves always played particular role for women and were not so important as for men not to mention the challenge to fight a duel with the help of the glove. It is hard to find more than three pairs of gloves in the wardrobe of the modern women however the moral laws of England of the 19th century made men change the gloves six times a day.
The first gloves looked rather strange and looked like the small bags for the hands that were bounded on the wrist. Such gloves first appeared several millenniums before in Ancient Egypt. Later the bags were made for every finger and looked more like the modern gloves.
Scientists consider that Ancient Egyptians were working and eating in such gloves not to soil their hands. One of the most ancient gloves was found in the tomb of pharaoh.
In Ancient Greece people didn't like people who were wearing the gloves considering them to be snobs. In Ancient Rome almost all people worn gloves that were protecting their hands not only from the frost and dirt but also from the hot food. During Medieval times gloves became especially popular being decorated with the silver and gold as well as with precious stones. And this time was the start of the gloves cult that turned into great accessory from the necessity. The women long gloves are fashionable even today being the reaction to the short sleeves.
